1578 born in hanseong (present day seoul) during the joseon era to a yangban family, her father a government official, she found herself growing up in a strict household. as their second daughter, she was already promised in marriage with a son of another wealthy family. while growing up it was expected of her to be prim and proper, anything other would bring shame to the family and even possibly jeopardize their status.
1595 in between the japanese invasions of korea, plans for her marriage were set into motion

in life, minyoung would have been called a vibrant, inquisitive and sometimes rebellious soul to those who knew her while she appeared to be just another shy and timid noble girls like the majority of women during the joseon era. while she came from a yongban family and could read and write, her education was focused on ‘proper etiquette for women’, ‘how to be a good daughter-in-law and wife’ and all the basic life skills needed to run a household. stubborn and headstrong, she often found herself arguing with her father over those restrictions, even to the point of herself running away which lead to the events of her being turned.
in the present time she finds herself almost a shell of what she was in the past. with age she has learned to control her emotions, the once rash newborn a cool and collected elder, and often worries that just maybe she was losing the last bits of humanity that lingered over her. so she surrounds herself with humans when she can in an attempt to not forget. in general, she feels rather motherly towards her own kind and fellow supernatural beings.

a form of mental compulsion or influence, minyoung has the ability to hold the respondent in a trance, making them susceptible to the power of suggestion until the session is ended or broken.
□ eye contact must be maintained for the victim to fall into the trance and can be avoided completely by looking away and not meeting her gaze. in turn she can only influence one person at a time.
□ the victim is still partially conscious through the trance and can show resistance to any suggestions.
□ while all humanoid species can be hypnotised, humans are most susceptible to fall under the spell while fellow vampires and supernaturals with telepathic abilities are immune. on the same note, strong-willed people are harder to influence and are more prone to resist.
□ the effects of the trance are temporary and wear off in time, usually no more than a hour from her experience.
as well as the hypnosis, minyoung has the typical vampire traits of immortality, superhuman senses and enhanced physical abilities. being considered an elder vampire due to her age, she is much stronger and faster than her younger kin. not that she gets into many fights.

□ invitation - to enter someone's home for a first time, a verbal invitation is needed. resending the invitation forces her out.
□ magic - highly vulnerable to the effects of magic.
□ stake - a stake through the heart, one of the easiest ways to kill a vampire.

over the years minyoung had acquired various artifacts, art pieces and various other valuable items, some legally and others not so much. the buying, reselling and sometimes stealing was how she built up most of her fortune over the many years, letting her always live a more than comfortable life. those days are mostly behind her with only a few precious items that she can’t bear herself from parting with locked away in storage, while now her money is mainly made by clever investments in buildings, companies or the hotel she owns, The Alcove.
THE ALCOVE
the ground floor hosts a french inspired cafe restaurant and reception up on the 11th floor as well as the evening restaurant. floors 2 through 10 contain the petite (1 queen or 2 single) and boutique rooms (1 king) while 12-14 contain our signature suites with our panoramic penthouse suite on the top floor with the rooftop bar.
the alcove is a sophisticated getaway for urban nomads and tourists alike. designed to provide comfortable yet elegance experience it boasts scenic views from it's location in Gangnam. the rooftop bar provides the best skyline views, complimenting the the everyday pleasures in the vibrant city.
